Finalising my Installation and gaining material - Maps and Networks

As my installation assessment date lots and the exhibition in January draws closer I had to find myself all the materials I need for my installation piece. I began my search at the Equipment Hire store in University to see what they had there and if I would be able to have it for all the dates I needed. The Equipment I needed to hire was:

- Canon Legria G25 Camcorder

- 10 meter HDMI cable

- HDMI to HDMI joiner

I was able to book all these items for the 14/12/2016 AM to 16/12/2016 PM to give me time to set up my installation on the evening of the 14th ready for assessment on the 15th. Then I can pack up and hand it all back on the 16th December. Then I also booked it for the 09/01/2017 AM till the 01/02/2017 PM. This will give me a week from the 9th January to set up my installation and then it will be on display for a month till February. 

Then for the TV monitor I need I decided not to hire it from the Equipment store as I knew there was already such a large number of students in my class needing one and there was limited supplies. Also I knew that my own TV monitor already works with this equipment and for my set up as I have previously tried and tested it. So I have made the decision to bring my own TV in from home for all the days it is needed along with the remote for it so that I will be able to set up the volume and brightness etc how I want it.

I then needed the CCTV signs which I had chosen to put on my piece. I found the cheapest ones which were also A3 size and on foam board which looked how I wanted. I brought these on Amazon and ordered them to my house. I decided I needed two on my piece. One for each white plinth but I decided to order three so that I had one spare incase any got damaged. Here are what they look like now they have arrived:

Lastly I needed to get the white plinths but as I have been advised by several people now that is something to find on the week of setting up my installation because they are so freely available and also there is no way of booking them out anyway as they are a general supply for the gallery space we are in anyway. I also am constructing a box to cover over the camera on top of the white plinth but as I only need this for the official exhibition I am going to construct this durning installation week in January. I went for this sign because these are the iconic ones which when I was younger I remember the most and use to see everywhere. Also because these signs are to give it cultural placement especially in the younger generations mind I feel these will be the ones they would have seen most as well as they are also the most childish looking ones which were meant to appeal to the younger people back then.

I am very happy now I have my idea all worked out and I know how to set it up and have all the equipment I need. I am really looking forward to being able to set it up so I can finally see how it will officially look.
