On Monday 5th Feb I met with the other editor to discuss the plan for Girl Happy. Here are the main points we discussed:
We firstly spoke about how we are going to work together. Even thought the piece listed myself as Editor 1 and Maisie as Editor 2 we decided we will be cooperating the entire way through. We are going to edit together as we feel like we both have skills which will benefit the piece. I am more of a cut together editor and Maisie is a much more technical editor so together we can produce something of higher quality.
We then discussed what we would edit on and we have chosen Avid as this suits the project a lot better. We can cut together continuity wise with the large amount of footage on the Nexus connected to Avid. We are going to book ourselves into the Avid suit to edit on the campus and that way the Director and any other crew who want to can pop in can freely do so.
We then discussed dates and made a temporary schedule for the editing of this piece which would fit around all the over projects we are working on. We just need to discuss these dates with the Girl Happy crew to check they are happy with these. These are 3 days to arrange and log the footage from 26th Feb till the 28th Feb. Then we start the official edit which we decided we need two weeks for, this starts 9th April and will be finished by 20th April. Then as long as everyone is happy we will pass this onto the sound design team to do their part.
Lastly we discussed the possibility of having a meeting with the relevant members of Girl Happy once their shoot has finished and before we begin the edit. We believe this will really benefit everyone as we want them to tell us the kind of editing style they want.
