Girl Happy - Runner Role!

I had offered myself as an extra runner to the Girl Happy crew as I wanted to get involved on set as well as just an editor in the post stage. Unfortunately their shoot dates moved around and it turned out their two shoot weeks fell on top of my one shoot week. I explained to them that this meant I could only help in the first week and it would be limited as I needed to prepare for my own shoot as well. However I was happy to do it.

On Tuesday 13th Feb I was asked to help on their set as a runner and as a driver. I went to Tilly (Directors) house at 10:30 to help sort out and load up equipment. I then took the DOP, Script Supervisor and Director in my car. I dropped the Director to the university before we set off so that she could meet the actors and rehearse with them in the dry as we were shooting outside on location and it was raining. I then drove the DOP and Script Supervisor to the location in Guildford to meet the rest of the crew. We then all went to scout the location and pick a bench on this hill. Once they were ready to start setting up I was instructed by the AD to drive back to the university and pick up the Director and the Actors. I did this and then drove them all back to the location. When we got back to the location I helped finish unpacking equipment from the cars and then stayed with the remaining equipment in the cars. I was put in charge of keeping an eye on the equipment for most the day. I was then also sent to the shop to buy lunch for all the crew and actors. I did this and then made the lunch for them. Then when they finished shooting at 4pm I went to the next location with a car full of the crew. Due to traffic in guilford at this time it took a while to get here. We then helped take all the equipment over to the next location and set up. I then went back to the cars and watched the remainder of the equipment again as instructed. When shooting was done I then helped pack all the equipment back up and into the cars. I then drove some equipment and crew back to the Directors house and we got here at 9pm. I helped unload the equipment and then I left.

I was scheduled in to help with two other days as a runner this week. However due to me becoming very unwell and also due to the closure of the university unexpectedly on Thursday I was either too unwell to attend or I needed the time for my own work. Thankfully they understood this as this isn't my main role on the piece anyway. I will be much more heavily involved in Post.
