Documentary Scripts!!!

There were also a number of scenes that we knew we wanted to do which we needed scripts for so that we knew we had all the information we needed. In total I wrote 4 scripts out for different scenes through out the documentary. Here they are:

1. Presenter Connor's introduction speech-

“Hello, I’m at UCA Farnham investigating the enigma that is the Campus Cat. After gathering intel from residents and students here on campus it is clear that this illusive feline goes by many names and must be a master of disguise. I am now passing over to Investigator Callaghan who I am hoping will be able to discover more about this creature.”

2. Pigeon murder investigation sequence-

*Callaghan is sitting at computer*
Callaghan: “Quick look at this! *Waves camera crew into room* I’ve found some really interesting evidence on the cat. I was looking through the ‘Farnham Freshers’ page for background information and I stumbled upon this beauty. *points to pigeon image on screen* what do you think? I think we may have a murder on our hands. Let’s go investigate!”
*Callaghan leads camera crew outside*

(Cut to Shot of Callaghan looking around campus)

Callaghan: “The problem is this picture doesn’t make it awfully clear where it was taken… BLAST! I think I’m going to have to contact the source.” *Picks up Phone and calls Source*

(Cut away to shot of the scene of the crime)

Callaghan: “This must be where it happened. There is no signs of it now so I must be too late. What I find intriguing is how people here are still managing to bond with this cat. They personify it as if it’s their friend when to me he’s nothing more than a wild animal.” *Storms out of shot*

(End Scene/Sequence)

3. Office scene where Detective tells Connors his findings-

*Both sat down at a table in Callaghan’s Office*

Callaghan: “In my opinion the cat does exist, there is no denying that. However I believe that the stories told are exaggerated and warped by people so that they start to feel like they too have a close connection with him, whether it be through the supposed annoyance he causes or even the precious time they spend together. They are however personifying him to be a friend not only to them but also to the campus as he is an icon now. There is still a divide as to whether people want him here or not.”

Connor: “I guess some people are dog people and others are cat people, Is this having an effect?”

Callaghan: “Well it has been studied and it seems like cat people do have different traits to those of dog people. For example I read that cat people are 12% more neurotic and 11% more open minded. This could be why here the students have looked past the cat’s obvious greed and just love him anyway. That’s all there is to it.”

Connor: “So is this case closed?”

Callaghan: “Yes”

*Connor slides money envelope across table to Callaghan, Callaghan looks inside*

Callaghan: “That should cover it”

Connor: “Thank you for your services” *goes to shake Callaghan’s hand but Callaghan ignore him*

Callaghan: “Now leave my office” *points to door*

*Connor and camera crew leave the room*

(End Scene)

4. Presenter Connor's end speech-

“I guess the campus cat is here to stay then, especially with all the students feeding it and looking after it. Even if it has caused a disturbance too many people have fallen for this shady little character.”
