I went back to my edit today to work on the colour and sound. I went through my sequence again just to check if there were any adjustments that needed to be made and once I was happy I opened up the colour correct window and began to correct my clips like so:
As I began colour correcting I made the decision to to adjust the colour of our footage too much as we had deliberately on set chosen to have red and blue lighting in some scenes to add to the meaning and conceptual drama of the piece. I instead used these tools to mainly play with he exposure and brightness of these red and blue shots as we had problems were some were too dark. I didn't want to lighten them too much though because the themes of the piece were quite dark and therefore having darker shots matched this well but I made slight adjustments as needed to make it visually easier to see and more effective. It was mainly the natural lighting shots that I spent a lot of time colour correcting because I wanted to make them all match as best as I could. I found some challenges with this like the scenes where I sued overlays:
I did my best to make these overlay shots match the other surrounding shots as best as possible mainly focusing on the exposure because the overlays obviously looked a lot darker due to the multiple images layered up.
I finally got all the way through and ended up with a fully completed sequence with I was happy with visually. I now to move onto the next challenge of adding a soundscape to the piece. We originally had a soundscape made by our sound designer from our crew however he lost this and was unable to provide us with all the folly we recorded so I now need to think into ways I can create my own soundscape to go with the piece.
