After a long discussion of the topic matter (Our Parents Divorce) we both came to the conclusion that it was obviously a very personal project to us and therefore we really wanted to pull it off successfully and well. We wanted it to be emotive, atmospheric and poetic so we decided that it would work better in terms of workflow if I created a rough cut next term from the actual filmed footage and then at this stage he can use this as influence for how the music should flow and work with the story we are telling. He can then begin to compose and make music which will then match up to my final cut/piece. This workflow will allow us to collaborate our audio and visuals in a much closer way making it much more effective hopefully.
The approach of now making the visuals and audio work hand in hand meaning the audio will actually come after the visuals has altered the whole intention of my piece which I have acknowledged. Rather than my piece sitting in the in-betweens of commercial music video and video art I have now realised it actually fits much more into the reals of video art as it is a piece made to express our journey and emotions on this particular subject and is no longer just advertising a music track/artist.
Me and the musician have now planned out how we are working together on this piece and I have also now realised I need to delve into the world of Video Art as this is now my goal.
