We used Tuesday as a day to update any paperwork that we needed to and to sort out plans on what we needed to do next. I spent time making sure everyone was happy with the updated Treatment and Synopsis (see previous post) and sitting down with a few individual members who were struggling and helping them to do there sections on this and also answering any questions people had.
Another issues that took over a lot of Tuesday was the Set Design because even though Jay (set designer ) had been in communication with the other groups Set Designer to make sure the space was workable for both groups to use for there ideas it turned out that the other group had changed a lot of there plans and what they wanted now ultimately messed with our plans so this needed to be resolved.
We had already compromised with the other group by saying that they have a whole room to make however they want it to be and that we will just adapt this room of theres on the changeover day to suit our needs and then the other room was ours to decorate before hand how we wanted as they originally said they didn't need it. However the other group now decided they wanted to use our room as well as theirs for their shoot which we weren't happy about. There was no way that we could paint and decorate both rooms and do a pre-light in one day so it wasn't happening. We had already compromised by having the wall in the middle of the two rooms as our divide which helped them as it gave them the right shaped room they wanted. Also they wanted a window in their room which we didn't however we said they could have it as we would make it work for us. Then they decided they also wanted to lay flooring which we said they could do a as long as they helped us to remove it on the change over day. So up till now we had been very nice letting them basically do what they wanted in the room.
That is why we were so confused when they announced they wanted to now use our space as well after we had already got a plan for it in place and we needed as much time as possible to decorate and dress this space as it was the Id side and was much more complicated. We explained this to the other group and they said it would only be two panels they would actually need which wasn't as bad as we thought but they wanted to paint them white which didn't match as our group were planning to have all the walls grey in our space. We did compromise again however that they could do this as long as they shot all the scenes using this space in the first day so we could come in of the evening to paint the white back to black/grey so it had enough time to dry by our shoot later on in the week. We were happy to do this but then the other group said they wouldn't be done filming on this day till at least 6pm and since the studio shuts at 8pm this wasn't enough time for us to get in, set up and paint then clean up. We tried to convince them that they needed to give us a little more time than that and could they be out by 5:30pm to help us out a bit more. They still weren't prepared to do this so I suggested that why can't they use a different space for there white wall shots like the side of the set on the outside walls. They went away and thought about it and decided that they would do that instead which meant we were back to having our own space just for us to decorate before hand rather than the other group interfering with it which was good.
The last issue we then had was that the other Group didn't want to have a door frame in their piece and wanted a solid wall splitting up the two spaces. This was very frustrating for us to hear as they knew we had a mirror in our piece made from an empty door frame and we had explained how important this was to us. We simply explained to them again how important this was to us because our piece simply wouldn't work at all with out it. They thankfully understood in the end and allowed us to keep the door frame in the middle wall and they are just going to board it up for their shot and then uncover it again ready for us to use. This was a good compromise for them to make and we are lucky they were prepared to do this.
Lastly just to get all the other little questions answered I took both Set Designers to one side and spoke to them about what they both wanted to do with the set for their piece and I took notes from it all. I found out that the dimensions of their room is 3 panels by 3 panels so we were happy to match this size on the other half. Then I found out they are using a very light pastel green coloured paint for their room so we agreed we were happy for them to do this as we would just make this colour work for our Superego side. We made them aware that if they used flooring they would have to remove it as well which their Set Designer agree to. The same went for the door frame which they are covering up and they have said they will uncover it. Their Set Designer once gain assured me they would no longer be using our space either so we had time to dress it out how we wanted and it wouldn't get messed with. I then got their Set Designer to give me a run through of all the props they were having in their space to see if any of it could be useful to us. The only thing I wanted to use was the blind that he was securing to the window so I asked if he could leave this and he agreed he would. All these agreements are verbal at the moment but I passed these notes onto Katherine (Our Producer) and she is going to right up a formal document to get both Set Designers to sign to agree officially to everything we spoke about today.
I feel like today went well I just had to put a lot of focus on to communicating with the other group to try and keep everyone happy and so that e could work out how the change over of the space was going to work. I am very happy that we now have an agreement in place with this group now and it will be made official once Katherine has made the document for both groups to sign.
