Studio Shoot Group Meeting 3

A small group meeting was arranged by myself (assistant Director) and Chloe (Storyboard Artist) for Saturday 5th November at 11am so that we could all help give her input on what to draw in the storyboard as she wasn't entirely sure on this. We set up the meeting for only a small set of people to do with the Visuals. The people who showed up for this meeting were Myself (Assistant Director), Logan (Director), Chloe (Storyboard Artist), Ethan (Director of Photography), Maisie (Camera Operator) and Ollie (Gaffa).

We all began by reading through Logan's first draft of the script/Screenplay which is as follows:

FADE IN.

INT. BEDROOM - EVENING

ACTOR 1 walks in, clearly distressed for an unspecified reason. Clutching a letter? Wearing casual clothes. Room has random personal items lying around, faint music playing from speakers in the background.

ACTOR 1:

(Walks in, breathes heavily)

Actor 1 then walks to the other side of the room, putting letter on desk. Then notices movement in the mirror out the corner of their eye. Goes to investigate but only sees reflection.

ACTOR 2 appears wearing the same as Actor 1. Reflecting the movements of actor 1 on the other side of the “mirror”.

ACTOR 1:

(Raises Hands, calmly)

ACTOR 2:

(Reflects)  

ACTOR 1:

(Turns to the side)

ACTOR 2:

(Reflects)

ACTOR 1:

(Turns around and looks back)

Actor 2:

(Reflects)

Actor 2 slowly starts becoming distressed, eventually stops copying the movement of actor 1. Music starts building tension.

Actor 2:

(Puts hands to head)

Actor 1:

(Stands there looking confused, slightly taken aback)

Actor 2:

(Moves hands from head to face, shaking)

At this point, Actor 2 has progressively got more distressed, moving by themselves and awkward/odd movements. Actor 1 realises that this is not her reflection anymore.

Actor 1 then tries to control actor two by reaching into “mirror” and grabbing actor 2.

Actor 1:

(Grabs Actor 2)

Actor 2:

(Grabs back)

Actor 1 and 2 start fighting through the “mirror”, actor 1 trying to control actor 2. Tense soundscape that was building up is at its peak. Lighting flickers and items in the room where Actor 1 is get smashed up.

Both Actors:

(Move away from “mirror”)

Fight is broken up by characters moving away from mirror. Lights and soundscape calm down to normal. Room remains smashed up.

Actor 1:

(Turns mirror around to solve problem)

Actor 1 turns mirror around to be alone, then turns around themselves and faces away, head in hands, clearly distressed again. After a while turns the mirror back around.

Actor 1:

(Calmly, turns mirror around)

Actor 2:

(Lunges out of mirror)

As the mirror turns around, Actor 2 becomes aware, slowly opens eyes as it turns and lunges at Actor 1, dragging Actor 1 through the mirror. Soundscape and lighting flair up one more time for dramatic effect.

After a few seconds, Actor 2 comes out of the mirror, grinning while Actor 1 is clearly visible in the mirror, banging fists on it. Music and lighting is normal.

Exit Actor 2, through door?

FADE OUT.

THE END

We then went through this all as group highlighting the points together that we thought were the key moments in the script that defiantly needed to be on the Storyboard. We then after we had chosen everything we wanted on the Storyboard also had a discussion on how we wanted these shots to look which was particularly important for Ethan DOP to have a say in. We then decided as a group what we all needed to work on for the next meeting which I have arranged for Thursday 10th November at 5:00pm in the Library. By then we want our Treatment completely finished and we need everyone to do this for their specific roles:

Chloe - Storyboard Draft
Ethan, Maisie and Sugini - Shot List etc
Ollie - Lighting Ideas and plan
Logan - Keep editing Script/ mood-board maybe?
Billie - Moodpboard or Research and Helping Logan
Jay - Basic Set Design/Plan
Ade - Make a sound plan and look into the 5 words. Refer to script on group chat.
Katherine and Nicole - Producer things! Arrange Auditions by then.

This was the meeting on Saturday 5th November concluded and we are due to meet next on Thursday 10th of November.
